You can use the 'Boolean operators' AND, OR and NOT. '(heart OR cardiac) AND surgery' will find records containing 'heart' or 'cardiac' together with the word 'surgery'.

If you do not use an operator your terms are automatically combined using AND.

If you wish to search for an exact phrase, e.g. computer programming select the Yes button.

Use the ? character to match portions of words. 'environ?' will find 'environs', 'environment', 'environmental' etc. '?phonic' will retrieve 'polyphonic', 'stereophonic', 'telephonic', etc.

The system supports variant spellings. 'labour' will find 'labor' or 'labour'.

You can use upper or lower case letters. 'computer' will find 'computer', 'Computer' and 'COMPUTER'.

Leave out leading articles such as 'a', 'the', 'le' and 'la'.
