(AKI/DAWN) - The fugitive Taliban commander Mullah Omar has emerged as the key player behind the controversial peace deal between the Pakistani government and the pro-Taliban rebels in the tribal region of Waziristan. The online edition of the British daily Telegraph reported that the Taliban’s one-eyed spiritual leader, who has a 10 million dollars price on his head for refusing to hand over Osama bin Laden after the September 11 attacks, signed a letter explicitly endorsing the recently announced truce."
